Summary:
A progress bar for "time-intensive" operations
The Idea:
- From Johncoswell's request (first link):
To give users better feedback when performing time-intensive operations, being able to display a progress bar within the status bar, as well as switching the mouse pointer to a busy/wait pointer, would be helpful.
- Less eloquently expressed, Bug Importer's request (second link):
You know, sometimes putting a bmp or jpg file into vector graphics takes some time, and it would be very cool to have an idea of the progress and to estimate when it will finish.
Additional Information/Comments
- Comments in favor in both reports up to 2017
Migrator's Notes:
- Anecdotal information: even though Inkscape throughout the years has never been exactly a speed demon for certain operations, I've never noticed enough lag to warrant a progress bar. And that's from someone who's used Inkscape 0.48.x on XFree86.app/Fink.
- Maybe a progress bar is now needed in macOS version for drawing to the screen?
🤣 I kid I kid, stop crying.
