Dev Section North Star Metrics

From the product group call (full context: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1feF46WvqBuWJ-bYnA-BuCD4gq_J5UagupNHJYTBtII8/edit#bookmark=id.bw0rgiwddxl):

@sfwgitlab: I would like every group to have a single “north star metric” that your group is trying to move with your development activities. In most cases this will be AMAU/SMAU, but I’m open to other north star metrics. Once you align on the metric, then we need to baseline it, and set a quarterly goal for it. Then we’ll have regular reviews to track performance against the metric, and review activities underway to move it further. We will use this data to inform future investment decisions, so it’s important to lean in on this.

Let's use this format - please update the table with your north star metric.

Group Metric Q1 Target Reasoning/other details
groupproject management (@gweaver) Issues Created Work with data team on implementation issue (https://gitlab.com/gitlab-data/analytics/-/issues/4291) This is a temporary North Star Metric as we start collecting additional data points to determine how to better determine the leading indicator of customer value. See the implementation issue for more details.
~"group::portfolio management" (@kokeefe) epic_viewed SMAU Rolling 7 day average > 3k events per day (~2.5x increase from Feb. 1 - May 1) Epics are currently the core feature at the center of Portfolio Mgmt. We have been delivering value additions, quality of life improvements, and advancing how they interact with other planning artifacts in the platform. With Epics moving to Premium, and the slow influx of additional Plan users leveraging Epics, we have a healthy SMAU growth rate that we believe will continue into Q2. NOTE: Our current tracking utilizes snowplow, which is limited to GitLab.com. In future quarters, we will need to add tracking to the usage ping, so we can track self-managed, opted-in instances as well.
groupcertify (@mjwood) Requirements Created (In Progress) 100 Requirements Created Given that we are still in the process of rolling out Requirements Management, this North Star Metric will evolve with time. Initially, we're interested in ensuring we can collect requirement creation metrics, and validating that we are seeing usage.
