The game crashes every time I try to enter the objective area after I interact with the Tree Stone in Solstheim for the Skaal Test of Loyalty quest. I'm attaching a map showing the approximate area that triggers the crash.
I've tested this in two different characters and save files, with and without mods and the problem still remains. I also reinstalled the whole game so I have to assume it's an issue from the OpenMW 0.47 unreleased build.
I'm using the client for macOS.
I found a smaller issue for the Ritual of Water. The Swimmer won't lead me to the underwater cave and he'll stay on his island instead. That however won't trigger a crash.

I downloaded the 0.47 build last week after the last news post but I just updated it just in case. It's still crashing for me so I guess it would indeed be related to the platform or drivers. I'm using macOS BigSur 11.2.3, all up to date as far as I can tell although it's been a bad (Mac) update for my games it seems. The openmw.log is completely blank after the crash and the crash log says it failed to create a crash report so I don't have more information about this issue. I appreciate the attention nonetheless.
Notably, disabling the assertion lets me continue playing through the quest (not that that would be a solution)
Judging by log, there is an actor with AiPackage which tries to follow himself, what is an undefined behaviour in OpenMW.
There are five BM_spriggan_st_UNIQUE spriggans in this quest which have an AiFollow package with BM_spriggan_st_UNIQUE target. Since the game searches for the first actor in cell by ID, first spriggan in cell will follow itself. I have no idea how Morrowind is supposed to handle it.
@akortunov is there any workaround for this issue? I have the same platform dependency, on macOS Monterey 12.5.1, and this failed assertion prevents finishing the expansion.
Hello, has anyone discovered a solution to this issue?
I'm running OpenMW 0.47.0 on a Mac with macOS Monterey 12.6.3.
Happy to attempt OpenMW 0.48.0 but would love to know if anyone has a solution for 0.47.0
Nope, it needs an engine-side fix, and the fix is part of 0.48. There are RC builds linked in the top post on our blog, or you can wait for the actual release, which we hope will be very soon.
