EAP SIM wifi authentification (FreeWifi_Secure)
Cannot connect to wifi networks such as the French public network FreeWifi_Secure, which uses the EAP SIM method. According to Free, for subscribers using a Free SIM card, it should just work automatically without any additional setup. Going into the network's connection settings, by default it is not set to the correct type and requires an obligatory Domain to be entered. If the SIM connection type is selected (and the requisite 'Free' SIM slot chosen), there are no further setting to configure, it suffices to just then click on Connect. The result: 'Connection Failed' intermittently displays, the connection retries endlessly (consuming battery) and a brief 'Saved' popup shows under the network name without ever establishing a successful connection.
I've seen comments and bug reports dating back many years. Initially the support in Android was missing, but it was eventually added years ago. For those still with this problem, there are suggestions it's something to do with LineageOS. Many of the bug reports have changed URL but here's one example, later closed due to not relating to latest OS version. No solution ever found. Other users have tested under both stock Android and Lineage-based OS's and confirmed only the latter have this problem.
Can iodéOS circumvent the Lineage defaults? Is there any probability of this working?
