[Feature Request] Lack of custom vector brushes (or pattern brushes) in Inkscape
Steps to reproduce:
- open Inkscape
- Try to find a convenient and fast tool for painting with texture brushes.
What happened?
You will not find such a tool. Yes, I know about "Pattern Along Path" LPE. This is a very cool tool and without it I don’t know what to do at all. And I know that this tool is also available from the quick drop-down menu on the toolbar when creating curves ("Shape: From clipboard"). And now I use this method as the fastest possible in Inkscape. But still it’s inconvenient.
What should have happened?
There should be a more convenient way. As an example, you can look at other vector editors. They have a panel with the ability to select the current brush, there is a list of custom brushes (textures), it is possible to import and export brushes, as well as create your own brushes. And all this is very lacking in Inkscape. Moreover, the main functionality is already implemented - this is the same "Pattern Along Path" LPE. The only thing left is to give this tool a convenient way to use it as vector brushes.
By the way, such offers have been appearing for many years in a row (here, for example), but for some reason they are still being ignored. But in vain, because they really could significantly increase the usability and attract new users.
Inkscape Version and Operating System:
- Inkscape Version: 1.0beta2 (or any other version)
- Operating System: Ubuntu
- Operating System version: 19.10
P.S.: By the way, here is my another topic about "Pattern Along Path" LPE improvement.
