Content scrub: UXR and UXR Ops Coordination handbook pages
What is this issue about?
As the UXR team has grown and evolved, so have the handbook pages associated with UXR and UXR Ops Coordination topics. It was recently discovered that some of these handbook pages are outdated, redundant, or may no longer be needed. Additionally, it's difficult to find some of the pages or to know what pages exists, without going into the repo.
What needs to be done?
Two things need to happen:
- A content scrub needs to occur on all UXR and UXR Ops Coordination handbook pages. This means looking at the following:
- Accuracy - is the process listed in the handbook page still up to date?
- Relevancy - is the content still relevant or needed?
- A categorized table of contents page needs to be created that allows visibility and linking to every handbook page authored by our team.
Reviewers have full authority to rewrite and/or to remove content, too.
How will this be done?
Each page that falls within this effort is listed below. UXRs and UXR Ops Coordinators will all help with this effort by claiming certain pages to work on. Once they've reviewed and updated the content, they will then check off the page within the list and post a link to the MR for @asmolinski2 to review/merge.
- = denotes the page is on the Table of Contents page
Parking Lot
As pages are being reviewed, there may be situations where you remove content from a specific page, since it doesn't seem it's the right place for it. If you find that content is valuable, and should live elsewhere, you can paste it in this parking lot: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZFIi7Qjf85I3v3p2LsJJDVs5S4t_gUC-qtm6xyseM0E/edit?usp=sharing
Notes on who was selected for which pages
As I was documenting each page we had, it felt like many of them had natural owners. That's purely based on what some of you happen to work on, your strengths/super-powers, and interests. If you disagree with any of the above selections, feel free to let me know. You can also swap pages with your fellow peers, provided they're on board with it
My justification on the selection:
- @aknobloch - You have the navigation-related page, along with an unmoderated testing page. Both are applicable to your space. You're also still fairly new, so I think these pages are reasonable to take on.
- @alasch - You have pages related to interviewing, management topics, and data analysis. The latter are broader topics that I think you can offer a unique perspective on, along with your experience.
- @cfaughnan - Naturally, you have the pages related to UXR Ops Coordination. There's also a Qualtrics page in there for you (no idea if it's still accurate - or needed). Think about Marketo processes, too, please.
- @leducmills - You have pages related to usability testing, usability benchmarking, solution validation, and problem validation. I think you're a good person to look at all of those collectively to make sure they're being presented in a consistent way. Restructure however you wish.
- @enf - You have a couple pages related to recruiting participants (from a non-UXR Ops Coordinator perspective), along with what I call 'fundamentals of research', which focus on writing hypotheses. Lastly, you have some pages related to choosing the right research method. I think you're a good match for those pages.
- @moliver28 - Many of your pages are ones that you originally created. You'll need to look through those to make sure they're still relevant/accurate. I also threw in the page about research insights, which is directly related to actionable insights.
- @NickHertz - SUS pages, of course. You can remove wording like 'our current iteration'; as the way we do it now is how we do it. It might be nice to fold in Marketo recruitment.
- @wleidheiser - I tried to assign pages associated to foundational research and other methods that you have used.
- @j.mundy - You're still so new, so no action from you. FYI only.
