Remove custom getter methods for secondary emails

What does this MR do and why?

This MR removes custom getter methods for commit_email and notification_email. Original MR !69648 (merged) caused problems and was reverted !70473 (merged), this MR brings back the changes, contains the fix as well as additional test for the discovered issue.
