Document Rspack as the GDK frontend bundler
Summary
Rspack has been the default GDK frontend bundler since Enable Rspack as the default frontend bundler (gitlab-development-kit!6068 - merged) (merged 2026-09-02), and GDK removes Webpack on 19 October 2026 (Migrate all users to Rspack and retire Vite and... (gitlab-development-kit#3349)). The frontend developer docs in this repo still tell people to configure Vite, so the instructions don't work for anyone on the default setup.
This MR updates those docs to Rspack:
- GDK-in-a-box: the documented
docker runcommand maps-p 3038:3038, the old Vite port. The container exposes3808, the Rspack dev server port. The MR changes the mapping to3808. - Vue 3 migration guide and
doc/development/testing_guide/testing_vue3.md:gdk config set vite.vue_version 3does nothing under Rspack. Replaced withgdk config set rspack.vue_version 3, which GDK passes to the dev server asVUE_VERSION. Also replacesgdk restart vite, gdk tail vite, and the Vite cache path with theirrspackequivalents. - Performance, SCSS (Tailwind), and new page guides: remaining Vite mentions updated to Rspack.
Reproduction steps
- Follow Configure GDK-in-a-box (https://docs.gitlab.com/development/contributing/first_contribution/configure-dev-env-gdk-in-a-box/) and start the container with the documented
docker runcommand. - Load GitLab in the browser. No frontend assets are served, because only the old Vite port
3038is forwarded. - On a GDK with default settings, run the Vue 3 steps from https://docs.gitlab.com/development/testing_guide/testing_vue3/ (
gdk config set vite.vue_version 3,gdk reconfigure, gdk restart). Pages still run Vue 2, because the Rspack dev server readsrspack.vue_version.
