Identify and close gaps in AI Integration Working Group Exit Criteria
Point by point analysis on Exit criteria identified here: https://about.gitlab.com/company/team/structure/working-groups/ai-integration/#exit-criteria
The following criteria should be met for the group to disband:
-
Product teams have a clear method to build and integrate AI into GitLab product areas. - AI architecture is solidifying. Formalizing AI Framework ( gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com!126344 (merged)) also sets us up to maintain this long term.
-
The integration platform should have a product group handling maintanence and feature development - This is now complete with gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com!126344 (merged). We do still need to realign to staff this, as it's currently staffed with borrows.
-
We have a structured methodology for evaluating new AI models, adding them to the integration platform to allow them to be consumed by product teams. - This is currently spinning up with the formation of the AI Model Validation team: gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com!127858 (merged)
- Documented here: https://about.gitlab.com/company/team/structure/working-groups/ai-integration/#ai-model-validation-group
- This could move to the AI-powered direction page https://about.gitlab.com/direction/ai-powered/ai_model_validation/ai_evaluation/
-
We have a roadmap plan to achieve GA for our initial AI experiments. - @tmccaslin has established a joint PM roadmap sync for AI PMs to consolidate and have unified roadmap. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fHcEXkpGPvc3Fz1wpnjrtC-qfyisyDO8x636IVbP7B0/edit
-
Documented process for handling AI feature proposals as part of the prioritization framework -
We have the AI feature request proposal https://internal.gitlab.com/handbook/product/ai-strategy/ai-integration-effort/ai_experiment_guidance/
-
-
Move SAFE content from the internal handbook to the public handbook where appropriate and SAFE. -
Most public documentation for these features are updated https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/ai_features.html -
UX maturity requirements — gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com!129882 (merged) and https://gitlab.com/internal-handbook/internal-handbook.gitlab.io/-/merge_requests/3505
-
-
Develop an evaluation process of user experience between options to make more intelligent decisions on which engineering solution we recommend. -
#ux-ai-integrations exists and they have a whole integration guideline: https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/product/ux/product-designer/#designing-ai-solutions
-
-
Finish closing out working group tasks; -
https://about.gitlab.com/company/team/structure/working-groups/#disband-the-working-group -
gitlab-com/content-sites/handbook!1198 (merged) - archive the WG in the handbook -
https://gitlab.com/internal-handbook/internal-handbook.gitlab.io/-/merge_requests/3732 - update IH to latest development
