Use only one version of the key icon
What
Currently, there are two key icons, key
, and key-modern
. Inherently the applied use is not related to the style of key. For example, using the older, skeleton style key for SSH Keys should not infer that SSH is somehow older or archaic.
Proposal
Use only the key
version, which will allow us to update all instances in the future once a new key icon has been released. This will help keep the icon library clean, and ensure that we’re focused on simplifying the UI, not adding conceptually similar, yet visually different icons that do not add value.
In this instance, the emphasis is on indicating these are keys, and visually differentiating the style of key does not help clarify any difference.
The change will be visible in the User/Settings navigation.

Eventually all instances of the skeleton key will be updated with something like .
