Research issue: Alignment between Release Management and FOSS projects
Problem Statement
There are a number of FOSS projects that have specific release processes, and there have been recent discussions between these projects and GitLab. This issue will document the specific release processes of these projects and map them to existing Release Management functionality, as well a upcoming roadmap features.
For example
I’ve heard from some open source communities (like VLC and Ffmpeg) that they’d really like more CLI features on GitLab
If GitLab introduces a workflow for single-patch acking, and a way to generate some reasonable history from a MR evolution, I can see the kernel moving to it.

- VLC
