Making GitLab UI less line-y: full buttons
This is something that has been on my mind for a while and remembered to revisit it because of #209 (closed) by @dimitrieh. I think our UI relies too heavily on lines even if we exclude the buttons. But because our bacgkround is mostly white and are buttons are white with a grey border, that's additional lines in the UI. Lots of lines = noise in UI
Our white buttons are 'ghost' buttons basically (when used on white bg, which is most of the time). The problem with ghost buttons is that they have very low contrast with the background.
Considering changing our buttons to pill-shaped buttons, I would also suggest we consider changing our buttons to full, instead of outlined. This would mean light grey on white background and possibly white on grey background. Here are a few mockups I did quickly:
I think this could be our first step of moving away from the line-y UIs.
@gitlab-com/gitlab-ux I'd love to hear your thoughs on this.
