Reconsidering styles for ui component segregation and better reading experience
😄 Hi there I looked into the current issues looking for key word font-size or fonts. But I was not able to find an issue related to revisiting the current size of fonts
I like Gitlab in many ways, but I still come across difficulties with regard to reading markdown. I played a bit with the inspector and change some css to see how it looked like. I share below some of the screens I captured.
1. I firstly modified the font-size (currently is 1rem to 1.2rem). I also tried 1.4rem and it worked well see the example below.
2. I also tried to give some prominence to the navbars (side and horizontal navbar). Also the text feels really small and difficult to read for me. This is not just because of the text, but also the whitespace between text and background.
Shot 1: without navbar text increase
Shot 2: with navbar text increase
3. The last change I tried, was to create more contrast between the sidebar and text, as both tend to blend because of the light background. The proposal is not the best, but illustrates how the visual contrast creates a clear differentiation in perception and also reduces background noise.
I hope this helps in making Gitlab even better
This project is primarily used by GitLab’s UX team to host design files and hand them off for implementation.

Thank you for helping to make GitLab a better product.
