Proposal: Allow team members to fully expense internet AND co-working space (revert to previous policy)

joe d requested to merge jdrumtra-master-patch-90353 into master

Why is this change being made?

Amongst the many newly introduced expense policies, one of the more confusing is the inability of team members to be reimbursed for home internet if they also have a co-working membership. This policy seems to assume that conducting work that requires internet access, will only happen at one place on any given day, at-home or at-co-working space. Since work will almost always transpire in multiple locations, I recommend that we immediately revert back to our previous policy of allowing team members to be fully reimbursed for both home internet and their co-working spaces. Reverting to our previous policy also offers an efficiency gain from having to calculate the days spent working from home vs. the co-working space. The lack of efficiency in this new process was already raised here and excerpted below:

  • Calculating a monthly pro-rata amount to expense every month is not efficient.
  • The time cost involved in calculating this, and then my manager verifying it each month is not reasonable.
