[Outreachy 2024] [Pre-Requisite] [Step 2] Set up a personal blog
Summary
Create a personal blog on a platform of your choosing. Post a link to your blog homepage or profile page on a large site to this issue to verify completion.
Background
You should already have seen #140 (closed) and #153 (closed) to learn more about Fedora and our community. This issue is considered a pre-requisite to be considered eligible for the Fedora Community Architect Outreachy internship. Non-completion of this issue means an applicant will not be considered for the Outreachy internship.
A Community Architect intern will need to write often during this internship. It includes public posts in our official channels as well as technical documentation. As part of the Outreachy application phase, you will complete some writing so that mentors can assess your writing proficiency and abilities. For the purpose of the Outreachy application phase, we will do this writing on your personal blogs so that you can do your writing in the public and the open, and to help you build your own open source brand as you contribute!
You can use any blogging platform that you like. We recommend WordPress since it is a tool that we already use in the Fedora community (e.g. the Fedora Magazine and the Fedora Community Blog). However, if you already have a blog on another site or would prefer to use a different tool, that is fine! Choose a platform that will empower you to give us the best sense of your writing proficiency and abilities.
Details
Your blog should make it easy to find posts that are authored by you. This means it is either a dedicated website with content only published by you, or if you use a larger publishing platform, a public profile where it is easy to find articles/posts written by you. Do NOT use a blogging/writing platform with a paywall or something that requires an account to read your post. All your posts should be public and visible without requiring an account to read it.
To verify completion, simply comment in this issue with a link to where the mentors can find your blog or profile page. Once a mentor verifies your blog, you will be assigned to this issue, which marks you as having successfully completed this task.
Outcome
Set up a place where you will publish your own writing during the Outreachy application phase, so that mentors can evaluate your writing capabilities and so that you can build/enhance your open source brand as you contribute.
