Filter writing documentation insufficient for writing extended element hiding filters
Background
As a user who wants to hide elements on the page that contain a certain keyword, it is quite challenging to find help on https://help.eyeo.com/en/adblockplus/how-to-write-filters?79386669 (see forum post).
In order to write the filter in question, one would have to know where to search for it (i.e. Content filters > Extended CSS selectors (Adblock Plus-specific) > :-abp-contains()
), how those filters look like (i.e. Content filters > Basic rules
) and which limitations there are (i.e. at least one domain needs to be specified).
What to change
Allow visitors to find all relevant parts of the filter writing documentation based on what they're trying to do.
For example:
- How to block network requests based on their URL
- How to block network requests based on the type of content
- How to block network requests without making them fail
- How to unblock network requests
- How to hide elements on the page (using CSS selectors)
- How to hide elements on the page based on their contents
