This is a FastAPI service for removing backgrounds from images. The client sends a file via the HTTP API, the service saves the source file in data/uploads, queues a Celery task in Redis, the worker runs the selected model, saves a PNG with an alpha channel in data/results, and returns the result by task_id. The birefnet model is used by default, but modnet, ssdlite-mam, or u2net can be selected via a query parameter.
