A minimalistic 3D editor for creating track sections and trackside objects for MSTS & OR (Microsoft train simulator and Open Rails).
This app featurs batch shape creation with detailed part replication settings. You may create one project and then generate thousands of track shapes, listed in tsection.dat, in a few minuites.
.s and .sd files are generated automatically. However, it is your responsibility to put textures in required folders. Different image types may be used as textures during shape editing.
Import and export to/from .obj files which are supported by majority of 3D editors is provided.
ShapeDesigner's own projects are stored in .csv format, making it easy to preview and edit them with notepad or Excel.
As track shapes should be minimalistic and low-polygonal, typing vertex coordinates is considered here as the main shape editing method. However, different visual aids and edit commands are provided to make shape editing easier. Many feature ideas (but never source code) were inspired by Abacus TSM.
The own shape format allows separate editing of every polygon in the part as standalone primitive. But during conversion all points in the part which are having similar coordinates are automatically joined into one.
I hope that route makers will find this tool useful for making shapes not present in original X-tracks. You may also use it to create embankment or trackside forestry shapes.
