Fix countdown timer and lap counter display

This MR fixes 2 bugs:

1. Countdown timer was off by like 1-2 seconds (fixes #12 (closed))
2. Lap counter display "jumped" around in the first seconds of the game

I did some basic testing myself (2 players) but please do your own tests as well to make sure there aren't any crashes or something.
