Feature request: nearest airfield / airport widget.
Hello development team,
Australian PG and HG pilots have recently been subjected to long standing Civil Aviation requirements regarding the carriage and use of airband radio, meaning we must now make VHF airband radios broadcasts in certain circumstances following 'alerted see and avoid' principles.
These VHF radio broadcasts must declare a pilot's distance and relative position from the relevant airfield (and altitude).
Could the XCTrack development team create a 'Nearest Airpstrip/Airfield" widget or similar feature whereby the instrument calculates and displays: (instrument referencing an airspace like file of airfield coordinates)
- Name of the airfield,
- Radial Bearing from the airfield (e.g. N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW.) and
- Distance in Nautical miles from the airfield. These three missing XCTrack widgets / features, along with the aircraft altitude in feet (currently offered by the Baro and GPS altitude widgets) would provide all the data required for the mandated broadcasts.
An example airfield coordinates file can be provided... Open Air file I believe. For example: https://xcaustralia.org/download/other.php
Happy to assist in any way I can.
Regards, Zane
