Expert Info (Error/Malformed): Radiotap data goes past the end of the radiotap header
Summary
"Expert Info (Error/Malformed): Radiotap data goes past the end of the radiotap header" error seen when capture 802.11ac packets. Error seen only when MCS index is 8 and above.
Steps to reproduce
Configure Radios to support 802.11ac. Set the data rate to support MCS8-MCS11. Capture packets using Wireshark
What is the current bug behavior?
On capture, we see radiotap header shows malformed info.
- MCS 0-MCS 7 => No malformed packet header.
- MCS 8-MCS 11 => Malformed packet header.
Adding MCS header seems to solve malformed packet header but when MCS index is 8 and above, information will be shown in VHT or HE header. why do we need to have MCS information element as well?
Is it MCS header compulsory even when VHT is supported?
What is the expected correct behavior?
No malformed header
