Guardians could become tired
Idea #17 is a prerequisite for this to work.
Guardians become tired when fighting too much
Right now the Player can restock the ammo of Guardians forever, as long as he has enough Morale, making Guardians unrelenting bullet hoses.
To add more strategy to Guardians, Guardians could become gradually tired for every shot they fire (Guardians are real people after all, and fighting off hordes of people is no piece of cake). If they stop firing for a while, their tiredness goes down slowly again.
The tiredness would affect:
- The rate of fire for fish and stinkbombs, because they are thrown by hand. The more tired you are, the less frequently you can throw things
- The accuracy of their shots
A Guardian who is 100% tired needs to rest for a while and can't attack at all until his tiredness has dropped to 50%.
This system would form a synergy with skipping the wave timer. The Player would need to find a balance between the instant reward for skipping a wave vs the danger of overworking his Guardians who desperately need a breather.
Necessary changes to the gameplay
The Player has to be able to manage Guardians individually. Otherwise a tired Guardian could be dismissed and then be replaced with a new one instantly, defeating the entire purpose of the system. This could be done by having another menu pop up when the Player wants to recruit a Guardian where he has to select which one of the available Guardians he wants to use.
