Port Subsurfaces from Marius on top of main + fixes

Main counterpart to: !82

Fixes tests & expectations in Marius' cherry-pick, plus implements some resizing signals & handlers for use in Lomiri.

Subsurface crashes as tested with gedit have been fixed along the way, while Firefox often keeps old frames around and doesn't react to new input. Still an improvement.
