Unspecified option "No Checkout" when cloning
TortoiseGit 2.9.0.0's Git clone dialog offers a "No Checkout" checkbox, which comes unchecked by default. Unfortunately, the Help does not mention it, and I still do no really understand what it does. It passes the --no-checkout flag when calling Git, which is documented as follows:
No checkout of HEAD is performed after the clone is complete.
I do not understand what this means. The option was introduced when solving issue #1436 (closed). The ticket hints as to the effect, but I still do not understand precisely:
For very large repo (> hundreds of MB), we may want temporarily not to checkout files, in order to save time and disk space. Just want to view the history very quickly.
