Create Repository make a useless symlink on Windows 10

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Enable developer mode in Windows 10 Settings
  2. Install Git, enable symlinks support
  3. Create Repository with TortoiseGit

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The repository is successfully created. But strange, a symlink .git2_XXXXXX is found in the working directory.

What version of TortoiseGit and Git are you using? On what operating system?

  • TortoiseGit 2.8.0.0
  • Git 2.22
  • Windows 10 Pro 1809

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
