TortoiseGIT commit dialog freezes if index.lock file already exists

By FrankHecke... on June 21, 2012 12:56 (imported from Google Code)

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Generate a situation where index.lock is not deleted (don't know how - maybe generating this file manually also works).
  2. Try to commit something.
  3. The commit dialog freezes and nothing is commited.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
After downgrading to 1.7.9 I got an error message that told me that index.lock already exists.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
TortoiseGIT 1.7.10 (still occurs in 1.7.10.3), Windows 7 64-Bit.

Please provide any additional information below.
After deleting index.lock and updating to 1.7.10.3 again (i.e. I did not commit something with 1.7.9), the commit did work as expected.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
