Upgrade CephFS CSI from v3.14 to v3.17 with immutable CSIDriver handling

closes #4502 (closed)

What does this MR do and why?

This MR upgrades Ceph CSI from v3.14.0 to v3.17.0 and introduces a pre-upgrade unit to handle the breaking change where the CSIDriver object's spec.attachRequired field became immutable.

Changes

Version Upgrade

  • CephFS CSI: v3.14.0 → v3.17.0
  • Breaking Change: CSIDriver's spec.attachRequired is now immutable and set to true

Solution

Introduces a new ceph-csi-cephfs-pre-upgrade unit that:

  • Deletes the existing CSIDriver object before the upgrade
  • Only executes during cluster upgrades (via is_upgrade condition)
  • Runs as a one-shot job to prevent accidental re-runs
  • Allows the new CSIDriver with updated immutable fields to be created during the upgrade

Details

v3.17.0 introduced a breaking change that sets spec.attachRequired to true to support Kubernetes ServiceAccount-based volume access restrictions. The CSIDriver object cannot be updated in-place due to immutable fields, so it must be deleted and recreated.

Without this fix, upgrades fail with below error:

CSIDriver.storage.k8s.io "cephfs.csi.ceph.com" is invalid:
spec.attachedRequired: Invalid value: true: field is immutable

Global config for deployment pipelines

  • autorun pipelines
  • allow failure on pipelines
  • record sylvactl events

Notes:

  • Enabling autorun will make deployment pipelines to be run automatically without human interaction
  • Disabling allow failure will make deployment pipelines mandatory for pipeline success.
  • if both autorun and allow failure are disabled, deployment pipelines will need manual triggering but will be blocking the pipeline

Be aware: after configuration change, pipeline is not triggered automatically. Please run it manually (by clicking the run pipeline button in Pipelines tab) or push new code.
