Part of AT2-558 "Support for mccs discussion about cdm and bdd".

This work is part of AT2-558 but does not close it.

The result should just be a new API link in the docs index, which leads to the code documentation. There were 2 small changes to method docstrings to eliminate sphinx warnings and get the docs to build correctly. I added a comment to the ticket describing what else had to be done.
