Scan exposure time is currently hardcoded per-sensor. At least on my scanner, however, I get much better results with longer exposure times. (See attached images for examples)

It doesn't seem like the QuickScan driver/software on windows exposes this settings, but it might be what Multi-Sampling uses?

The default for --scan-exposure-time is taken from the existing sensor settings, so I think this should be safe even if it turns out my scanner is somehow unique in supporting multiple exposure times.
