Sane backend failure to access Canon MP640
Using Xsane (0.999) as frontend and Sane backend 1.0.29 on Linux Mint 20.1 'appears' to work, but nothing happens at the scanner. After pressing the Scan button, the Xsane main window says Scanning, but the 'Receiving RGB data' box stays grey and clearly never actually receives any data. The scanner does not light up or move the scan head. The same device (an incredibly ancient, but still fully functional, Canon Pixma MP640) works perfectly On Mint 19.3 with backend 1.0.27. It also prints perfectly from both machines, but that's not relevant here. For both systems the printer/scanner is ethernet connected direct to the router. Please advise me what information will be required and how do I extract what is needed.
