When the window is hidden on macOS, clicking the icon in the dock does not open it

On macOS, when one hides the windows (e.g. using Cmd+Q or by clicking the close button in the window title bar) and then clicking on the entry in the dock does not bring the window back.

The only way to re-open the app seems to be to click the system tray entry. This should be fixed to behave similarly as on other platforms.
