Kernel dump test for automotive CKI environment
Hello,
I am looking to onboard the kernel kdump tests to the automotive CKI environment and a few constraints are associated with it. We plan to utilize the existing tests written by the kernel-qe kdump team to test it against our RHIVOS image running on the Qdrive/Ride4 hardware board. TMT has some issues with rebooting after panic and hence we are using the restraint test harness. The kdump qe maintains two separate public repositories, kdump-cki repo tests run in the CKI and the kdump repository is the non-cki tests that run on beaker and are more extensive tests that the team runs on a regular basis. I was advised to use the tests from the kdump non-cki repo to run against our automotive hardware since the tests are more detailed. I was thinking of adding metadata files to the tests in this repo, but I was told by the test maintainer that it might interfere with their makefile and beaker tests.
Will I be able to onboard tests to the automotive CKI without the metadata files? is it mandatory to have metadata files for tests in CKI? I was suggested that restraint can work with makefiles too. Can we perhaps try onboarding a few tests to test this theory in the kpet-db?. We are looking to see the best path forward to enable and run the kdump tests in our automotive CKI environment, I'd appreciate ideas and suggestions.thanks!
