Suggestion for updating .netrc credentials documentation.
Hello,
We at LKEB started using netrc files for storing credentials, and thought it would be nice to share some findings to help future users. Thus, I would like to suggest updating the XNATpy documentation for credentials to also explain the netrc file procedure for Windows, where it looks for a netrc file starting with an underscore instead of a dot, so "_netrc" instead of ".netrc". The proposed changes are in bold:
To store credentials, xnatpy uses the .netrc file on Linux and the _netrc file on Windows. On linux the file is located in $HOME/.netrc and on Windows the file is located in C:/Users/YourUsername/_netrc.
Additionally, it could be useful to provide an example for Windows users who use the command promt (Replace 'images.xnat.org' with your XNAT server, 'USERNAME' with your username and 'PASSWORD' with your password):
(echo machine images.xnat.org & echo login USERNAME & echo password PASSWORD) > %userprofile%/_netrc
I hope this is helpful! Kind regards, L.R. Beljaards
