French negotiations with Elsevier
(posting on behalf of @FredericHelein)
Dear All,
This year a negotiation of French institutions (led by the consortium Couperin) with Elsevier was concluded in a strangely quick and opaque way, leading to a relatively disappointing result. As other people, I was shocked by these operations and, a few months ago, I started to write down a blog to explain the details of these negotiations.
I wrote three posts on the subject, the last one revealing that Elsevier did a large scale lobbying operation towards the French government for influencing the negotiation :
- Pourquoi et comment le consortium Couperin s'est-il couché devant Elsevier?
- Couperin défend le bilan de sa négociation avec Elsevier
- Négociations avec Elsevier, acte II (et retour sur l'acte I)
A fourth post is devoted to 'transformative' agreements:
This blog is written in French and I started an English translation (for the moment two bills over four ones):
- Why and how did the Couperin consortium bow down to Elsevier?
- Couperin defends the results of his negotiations with Elsevier
Since my English is a little poor, if you are interested, please do not hesitate to send me any comments on this translation (directly to my address: helein@math.univ-paris-diderot.fr ) I would be grateful.
Sincerely Yours
Frédéric
