Package alsa-plugins-pulse forewards PulseAudio interfaces to ALSA. This helps to clean up the mess of PulseAudio vs. ALSA.

The alsa-utils provide helpful commands like alsamixer, aplay, arecord, etc. to analyse and test sound devices.
