There are no packages in the Software app
Please report such issues in our public bug tracker, not on Reddit.
I am here to report the issue I am having because of the above comment in the PostmarketOS subreddit, in response to the very kindly worded request of Reddit user 'PureTryOut'.
I am not a programmer, I am a user. I enjoy participating in open source projects, but my contribution is to try things and report bugs when I can't find a solution. I understand how build environments work, however, and I'm capable of assembling and compiling code projects.
I used these build instructions for Pine64 target Pinephone on the Pinephone UBPorts Edition.
I wanted to try out PostmarketOS because UBPorts, while very pretty, is basically useless, extremely buggy and has very little hardware support on my target.
PMOS runs well on my target. However, I have to manage packages via the commandline with the apk command because when I open the Software app (with the icon that looks like a shopping bag) the only software listed in the store is whatever software I already have installed.
Also updating software doesn't work. The app doesn't seem to be aware that there are updates to the packages I have installed in the repository. It's as if it can't read or doesn't understand the format of the package cache. And there are no repositories listed in the repositories tab, and no way to add any that I could find.
