Figure out path to upstreaming changes

    The quality of some of the customizations has increased beyond ugly hacks, we should be able to upstream at least a small subset of them.

    • propose to change license for CSS files to the same that upstream FF uses (Mozilla Public License v. 2.0) - get everybody on board, right now there are not that many contributors in the tree (#31 (closed))
    • upstream a simple change that makes one of the about pages more adaptive to FF to get a hang of the workflow
    • document the workflow
    • make a list of what can/should be upstreamed and start working on that

      FYI, https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/ contains tons of useful information on how to get started. There's also #introduction:mozilla and #fx-desktop-dev:mozilla.org on Matrix. The former is for question related to getting your dev environment ready and question about the workflow to land a patch and the latter is more about the development of Firefox. It may be interesting to discuss with the devs there to get an idea on what will be the best path to land these patches upstream.

        In general I think there's great potential for firefox on linux mobile once we get the ball rolling and can solve the things in upstream. But it will take somebody from the linux mobile community to spend time to do it properly and currently I have too many things in my hands. Maybe somebody reading this is looking for a way to improve Linux mobile - consider looking into this, when done right it would have an enormous impact.

        @ollieparanoid I don't daily drive my Linux phone so it's a bit hard to feel the pain points of using Firefox on a small screen device. However as I already contributed to Firefox, I'd be glad to help as much as I can. Feel free to ping me on matrix at @dannycolin@mozilla.org.
