Giving an OpenRefine workshop in Berlin
Hi @katrinleinweber!
I hope it's okay that I reach out to you via this channel (as I read that this was more effective than email). I hope you are doing great and that your role at GitLab is going well :)
I am reaching out because I am looking for someone who could facilitate a workshop about OpenRefine in Berlin, 10-12 November, for the "GLAM-Treffen" organized by Wikimedia Deutschland. Here is the website of the event: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/Berlin_2023 The format would be 2 x 2 hours and it would be focused on uploading media files to Wikimedia Commons via OpenRefine.
Because I know you are a very seasoned OpenRefine user and I think you are based in Germany, I wonder if you have any interest and capacity for that? I don't know if you are familiar with the Wikimedia Commons integration though, but it's not very different from the Wikidata one, so it might be something you can get up to speed on quite quickly.
By the way, we are currently running a train-the-trainers program to help people facilitate such workshops, because there is a quite strong demand for them. The application deadline is Sept 15th and you can get more infos here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OpenRefine/Train-the-trainer_program_2023-24
If you are not in a position to go for that, I wonder if you have any suggestions of seasoned OpenRefine users who might be able to do this training? The workshop would have to be in German apparently.
All the best, Antonin
