Change Linear Drop scaling to Geometric Scaling and slightly adjust drop tables
Description
Currently, Origins and almost every RO server out there uses linear scaling for drop rates, this means, whenever you kill a monster, the base drop rates at 1x are amplified in a linear manner to 5x. For example, let's take a Poring, it has a base drop chance of 15% on Empty Bottle, under 5x rates this changes to 75% drop chance. However, this does not reflect the actual chance of killing 5 individual Porings and getting at least 1 Empty Bottle, which is roughly 55.63%.
The idea is to change all drop rates to a binomial model of obtaining at least 1 item. The benefits of this system, is that it more accurately represents the rate at which one would obtain high and medium rarity items (under 15% roughly), compared to common high drop rate items. This would also mean that monsters, would have a chance of not dropping anything, which is something that normally happens at 1x rates.
Some monsters would need to have their drop tables revisited a bit, specifically speaking of monsters that drop common consumables at a high rate, like Blue Plant, Mandragora, Verit, Stem Worm, etc, and add an extra slot for the high demand item, this would be to not impact the market too hard with these items, since the supply would see a significant cut on these items that could create an scarcity problem and inflation.
Rationale
Reasoning behind this change is, it makes item drop rates more balanced to level progression rate. Also, by reducing zeny income overall, it makes it so inflation and server zeny generation gets slowed down, making some alternative income generation more attractive in comparison to other ones, due to all of them having a similar scaled up version of 1x. This change would also mean that current "drop nerfs" could be undone, like peach trees, the corresponding droprate of Royal Jelly would be 40.95% instead of 50% with normal 5x, and instead of the current 20%. This makes this map more appealing than it currently is for Royal Jellies, but all other drops would have lower drop rates, balancing out this change (like Honey and Royal Jelly from bears, dead branches and trash loot).
This change also means that balancing MVP drops becomes easier, since the rare items they drop would be slightly more rare, without the need of having to manually adjust them 1 by 1.
Additional Information
I think with trans update, or the one right after, it would be the perfect time to implement these changes, since most of the equipment will start becoming obsolete with each new patch, making the process to renew equipment slightly longer than it currently is.
Note on how to calculate new drop chance
Currently, the drop chances are calulated like this:
DC = Base_Chance * Server_Rates
Proposed change would be
DC = 1-(1-Base_Chance)^(Server_Rates)
Edit
This could also be a feature for Hercules as a server setting.
