Add a section or separate doc on using Jira
I've only used Jira lightly before and that was on a different version with a completely different workflow. I ended up spending a lot of time stumbling around trying to find things since:
- The Jira interface is not very fast and clicking around looking for things was painful.
- The official documentation is very poor. Neither the official Tutorial nor the Knowledge Base search results were even remotely helpful to me.
I'm a grown-up and I can ask questions and figure things out for myself, but a guide could have saved time and reduced friction.
Some things it would be good to know::
- What do the colours mean (if they have meaning) in each of the interfaces?
- Do the icons mean anything special or are they just eye-candy?
- What are the main interfaces you will be using and how to get to them: The Active Sprint for day to day task management (first sub-icon on left side bar, make sure you are in the right cell); Backlog for sprint meetings (second sub-icon on the left side-bar, hide the bits that are outside your cell); The Grooming Session interface (can be accessed via the "Agile Poker" drop-down, but it is transient and visible for a couple of days before the start of a sprint). Etc
- You need to edit the Ticket to change the time estimates (not obvious before you have created your first ticket).
- How to use Tempo (the online help at time of writing is broken #13 (closed))
- We don't seem to use versions/releases, so ignore references to those. (Maybe they can be elided from the interface?)
The above is just a brain dump from my recent experiences before I forget them.
