SE-2601 Address the onboarding feedback doc

Jillian Vogel requested to merge jill/address-feedback into onboarding

Addresses some of the onboarding feedback from previous newcomers.

  • 2985a56c: splits the "core team member epic management" into a separate section, cf !57 (comment 352806160) 3a664927: moves the "core team member epic management" section into the handbook, cf !58 (comment 356372105)

Read Confirmed core team member > First steps as a core team member > Get familiar with epics to check this change, noting that the link to the "Epic Management section of the Handbook" won't exist until public!166 (merged) is merged.

  • e33f2b00: emphasizes the existing material on where to log time.

(Kahlil) Figuring out where to log time is not very discoverable and probably not consistent across team members. The process and task workflows should mention at appropriate stages where time should be logged. Read First sprint > Logging time and Time Management > Logging onboarding time to check this change.

  • 180738f8: removes confusing/irrelevant announcements

Kahlil) Message after course “Sign In”: "Course opens today! Login and go to Orientation to get started!" It is not clear where this "Orientation" is. Maybe they mean "Help".

    Removed, nothing to check.

  • e737081c: adds "10 minute" note, and details about where to create ticket for meeting people

(Kahlil) It is unclear whether the “Getting to know everyone ticket” should be under the “Recruitment” epic or the individuals “Onboarding” epic (for purposes of logging time). OC-3328 makes this even less clear to the newby. The time allocation for each meeting (10 minutes ) should be indicated here.

Read Meeting People One-to-One to check this change.

  • 008f7261: fixes typo, changes "In some tasks, you'll need to add on change functionality on Ocim" to "In some tasks, you'll need to add or change functionality on Ocim"

(Kahlil) In some tasks, you'll need to add on change functionality on Ocim, and for that you will need to set up a Ocim devstack.

  • 5b4b6e68: moves the ZTD reference after the GTD video

Read Setting up a Ocim devstack to verify.

  • 5b4b6e68: rearrange ZTD and GTD content

(Alan) moved the ZTD (Zen to Done) link to after the GTD video. The ZTD productivity system link references GTD several times and therefore it’s easier to understand it after seeing the GTD video.

Read Time management to verify this change.

  • ffe5589d use @opencraft.com as primary github email

(Alan) add suggestion that a newcomer sets his @opencraft.com as the main email account so that all PR notifications arrive in that email account. Personal experience: I didn’t do this initially and started to get PR notifications in both my personal email (which I used to create the Github account) AND in my @opencraft email.

Read Git email address to verify this change.

Testing instructions

See the commits listed above, and read the links to the Onboarding Dev course to verify the changes for accuracy and link correctness.
