Are proxy settings forced?
Hi,
I am using OpenConnect Version 8.04 on MacOS. I have to use a proxy server when connected to my company VPN so I am using different location profiles in MacOS. Before using OpenConnect I switch to my location profile which sets http_proxy and https_proxy. At this point my browsers respond on connections, that they cannot reach the proxy server. That's how it should be.
After I connect to the VPN I can reach company resources, e.g. the proxy server. When setting http_proxy
in the Terminal I can use curl
to reach internet services, but when using Chrome or even Safari I cannot reach anything. After using Wireshark I realized that the proxy is never contacted like it is not set at all. After lots of digging I found the command scutil --proxy
which basically shows current system configuration and the proxy settings are always empty after connecting to the VPN. (proxy settings get restored after disconnect)
So my questions are:
- will and can OpenConnect change my proxy settings?
- can I verify this in the logs?
- can I disable this?
I already used OpenConnect on Ubuntu to connect another computer to my company network and this just works as expected.
And btw I ask about the ability of OpenConnect to change proxy settings because I found some AnyConnect docs about forced proxy rules (on windows?) here
Thanks!
