Cannot use certificate with OpenSSL versions 1.1.0 or higher - "md too weak"
When compiling against a version of OpensSSL version 1.1.0 or higher, old certificates no longer work due to the new security-level concept in OpenSSL, which at its default setting does not allow for example certificates with MD5 checksums.
This means that certificates that are still valid no longer work.
The error message returned is:
140088222534656:error:140AB18E:SSL routines:SSL_CTX_use_certificate:ca md too weak:../ssl/ssl_rsa.c:310
