Satellite of unexpected PNR in range "236-300"
Steps to reproduce:
- Open SatStat (with my location and device)
- Have a look at the list of satellites
What happens:
In addition to the known (expected) satellite types GPS, GLONASS and Beidou, I can also see another satellite in the range 236-300, probably with a PRN of 237 or 238 judging from the screenshot. As far as I can tell from the source code, that range is currently expected to be unused by the code.
Note: GPS location is censored out for privacy reasons. Location is in central europe, central european summer time.
I would expect to at least see some more Galileo satellites, but this seems to be a separate (probably unrelated) issue. Note that GpsTest displays 10 visible Galileo satellites in range with reasonable SNR that should be used.
Expected behavior:
If the satellite is being used, it should get a meaningful name, of course. Display all visible Galileo satellites too.
Additional nodes:
The device I used is a Fairphone 4 which according to the vendor (below Wireless & location) has support for:
GNSS standards: GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou
A-GPS support
It may be possible that due to the current war in Ukraine roughly 1000km…2000km away, someone is messing with satellite positioning systems, although I wouldn't expect this happening.
PS: I would be able to provide info using adb
, e.g. from adb logcat
if I'm told what to search for.
I'm using SatStat 3.3 (git-be2790d2) from F-Droid on Android 11.
