Feature request: VERP support (Variable Envelope Return Path)
Currently mutt uses as MAIL FROM
the same address when using sendmail
for SMTP.
Postfix:
sendmail - Postfix to Sendmail compatibility interface: option -XVxv: uses x and v as the VERP delimiter characters, instead of the characters specified with the default_verp_delimiters configuration parameter.
With -Xv-=
option joe@dev.example.com
's email to friend@example.com
would have envelope sender joe-friend=example.com@dev.example.com
.
For qmail, it would be $QMAILINJECT=sr
$QMAILSUSER=user-bounce
$QMAILHOST=example.com
and command qmail-inject -a
.
qmail sends individual email in case of multiple recipients.
Mutt could use smtp_verp
option to configure this instead of relying on env vars. smtp_verp_from
could configure the local part (e.g. joe-bounce
).
