Draft: Qt5 backward compatibility

Based on our conversation with !28 (merged), Qt5 compatibility is still required.

This draft reuses the comments I mad during the migration, and should bring back some level of compatibility. It should be mostly functional, I will remove the draft status when I will be sure of it.
