Document italic support
Many man pages make use of italic style specification as supported by the mandoc macros (\fI). But typically these get replaced by underline.
I prefer to view man pages with italics as intended but to that aim 'grotty', well hidden in the 'man' toolchain, needs to be convinced to allow italic by option -i.
Colin Watson pointed out to me that MANROFFOPT=-P-i works. However, that is far from obvious.
I suggest to mention italic configuration explicitly in both the 'grotty' and 'man' manpages, for example with the following additional paragraph in section ENVIRONMENT of 'man':
Note that setting **MANROFFOPT=-P-i** enables italic style in terminal display of manpages (via the grotty tool).
And likewise for 'groff' and 'grotty':
Note that setting **MANROFFOPT=-P-i** for the **man** toolchain enables groff italic style in terminal display of manpages (via the grotty tool).
I had addressed the issue by a groff wrapper script as a workaround, that can be configured into /etc/man_db.conf: https://github.com/mintty/italic-man In that script, I furthermore determine the actual terminal type (via its device attributes report) and enable the feature conditionally. Maybe that might be an additional feature for grotty.
