alternativeNumberingStyle #f same as default

When alternativeNumberingStyle is set to #f, number consecutively through alternatives, as by default.

Closes #6509 (closed).

I've tagged this with Backport, but I won't be offended if the person doing that decides that it isn't worth the effort.
