Make currently passing autotests also pass with sanitizers

See #58 (closed).

This makes all autotests that are currently passing without sanitizer also pass with sanitizer except for kde-idle test, which I think will pass with sanitizer as well after !44 (merged) has been merged.

Also cleans up some code which became redundant by past development achievements on the branch.
