Draft: DFN QFN and SON issues

Issue epic on &9

  • Split Package_DFN_QFN into Package_DFN and Package_QFN
  • Remove height prefixes (T/V/W/X and so forth), add Hx.xxmm parameter for max overall height (JEDEC A dimension) instead
  • Use generic name for all packages that fit the general definition, use manufacturer-specific names for outliers only (e.g. asymmetric EP)
  • In case of naming conflicts, use generic name for standards-backed definition (e.g. JEDEC) and manufacturer prefix for the other
  • Rename SON to DFN (exception: 3.)
  • Rename (WL)CSP to QFN or BGA, respectively

All contributions to the kicad library must follow the KiCad library convention

You can speed up the process by providing all the necessary information (see above). And you can speed up the process even more by providing a dimensioned drawing of your contribution.
